While booking tickets online, you would have come across either ‘PVR LUXE’ or seat types named ‘Gold Star’ or ‘Gold Premium’. Here is a screenshot of the same to help you understand better, in case you haven’t come across any yet:

Alright, so what do these terms exactly mean? How is LUXE or Gold different from traditional cinema experience? Let us dive right in.
By the way, looking at the above snapshot in case you are wondering what Laserplex means, look no further than our article on IMAX with Laser that powers this theatre, among many others. It has all the details regarding this technology. For now, back to PVR LUXE/Gold.
What is PVR LUXE or PVR Gold Class? What are its features?
Firstly, let us address the elephant in the room – is there any difference between PVR LUXE and PVR Gold Class? Technically, LUXE and Gold will always go hand in hand. You will not find Gold Class seats in any other theatre of PVR other than LUXE. In other cities, PVR LUXE may also be named PVR Gold. Even though your seat class may not be denoted as Gold, it is Gold. This I confirmed by speaking to a customer care executive of PVR on call and an Instagram chat.

Hence, PVR LUXE and PVR Gold can be used interchangeably in a way. But what do these mean? You may have guessed it by now. As the name suggests, the theatres of this category are designed to provide an extremely luxurious experience to their viewers. There is a premium lounge for guests, a live kitchen, leather recliner seats, a disposable blanket, and a touchscreen-based food ordering system whereby your order is served to you at your seat!
Here is a little sneak-peek into the cinema hall:
What is the total seating capacity in PVR LUXE?
The total seating capacity is between 25 and 50. There are around 6-8 rows in most LUXE theatres divided into two primary sections – one half close to the screen and the other half slight farther.
The seating arrangement in some of the theatres may also suit couples wanting to spend some romantic time together. However, not all theatres have it. Do check with the theatre before booking tickets.
What is the pricing for each of the seating options of PXL Screen?
The cost of tickets, considering the luxurious experience, is slightly on the higher side. It is 2 to 3 times the price of a regular ticket, i.e. costing around ₹500 per ticket.
What is the difference between LUXE and INOX Insignia?
To be honest, there is not much difference between the two. However, INOX Insignia seems much more luxurious and offers more features branding it as a 7-star experience. PVR’s LUXE is cheaper as compared to Insignia whose cost per ticket can go up to ₹1,000.
How many PVR LUXE screens are there in India?
LUXE screens are actually present in almost all major cities of India. Not all PVR screens may have it though.
